As I was perusing news articles online yesterday, I ran across this article. When I first saw the headline I didn't know who it was talking about. Out of curiosity, I clicked the link. I am beyond glad that I took the time to read the article and watch the video!
Here is a link to where the video was originally posted on YouTube.
Many of you who keep up with us here, grew up (or have spent time) in this area. Many of you will remember Carter's Sewing Supplies and Mr. John Carter. I certainly do. I can remember going down to (what was then) Towne Square Mall (in the old Eaton's building). I can close my eyes and picture it perfectly, in the main doors and turn to the right. The smell of the bolts of fabric. The feel of all the different types. Mr. Carter behind the cutting counter with his ENORMOUS scissors (they always seemed so to me ☺). I have seen Mr. Carter since the store closed. Not often, but I've seen him. Usually at the pool in the evenings or at Gyro Park.
I can only hope that I am even half as active as he is when I get to be his age. When Gareth and Rhys have a few minutes at some point, I'm also going to show it to them. Show them what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it. And how staying as active as you can will lead to a long and wonderful life.
