Go Rhys!

WOW! Just wow!

The kids' classes at our dojang (Trail Martial Arts) are split by age: 3-4, 5-6, 7-9, & 10-16. The kids usually move up to the next class after a birthday. There are other times though where they will "belt out" of the class they are in. This is when they have finished earning all the belts in their age group. Rhys just accomplished that tonight! This kid amazes me every single day! This is my kid who knew everything they asked him, and then some :-D  The pictures from his grading are here

"That went really well!"

Something I didn't think I would be able to say when Gareth and Rhys said they wanted to learn how to cross-stitch.

A bit of backstory:  I have a cross-stitch project that has been in the works for the last 10 years (I know, I know, classic Nancy). I started working on it again after a friend of mine was over and I showed it to her. The boys have been watching me work on it. They both expressed interest in learning how to cross-stitch. Gareth had a beginner kit sitting from a while ago and I picked one up for Rhys while I was out today.

Go Gareth!

So, as most of you know, Gareth has been training in traditional Tae Kwon Do since he was 5½ years old (he is now 11¾ .....YIKES!)

At Tae Kwon Do, we have what is called "formal grading". These are the gradings where we are able to earn our next belt. They are a pretty big deal at the best of times.

Last night Gareth hit a milestone with his training; he earned his RED belt!

Words cannot express how proud I am of this kid!
